Carol Reynolds

Carol has always been thankful for movement and how it makes her feel. She studied Ashtanga Yoga extensively in Canada, Japan and India. After developing some reoccurring chronic conditions from a car accident, she left the study of ashtanga to find movements that worked with her during injury and also helped to prevent future flare ups. Pilates and Barre were a natural progression.  She loves to focus on building mobility, balance and strength.

She trained in Barre with RStudios and Erika Ferguson and has taught in multiple Halifax and South Shore studios. Her classes are a rich blend of barre, contemporary mat Pilates peppered with some juicy yoga holds. Modified for all levels - they are a challenging, full body workout set to an infectious playlist.

Happiest in the forest or at the shore, she loves to bike and run and explore. She is a strong believer in leaving things, people included, a little better than you found them.

Darby Jack

Woman in activewear standing by windows, with a yoga mat and a gong in a sunny room.

Darby began practicing yoga at the age of 15 as a young competitive swimmer and triathlete. She discovered that yoga grounded her more than anything else and helped to calm her anxious mind. Over 15 years, she continued to practice and received training from Canadian yoga teacher Angela Jervis Reid in Leeds in 2019.

She also pursued additional training in trauma-informed yoga and accessible yoga.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, while living in the UK and exploring various home exercises, she started taking online Barre classes from Adrienna Rabena and found a new passion for it. The combination of moving to the beat of the music and targeting small and large muscles with low-impact movements made her feel fantastic. As an avid runner and yogi, Barre has been essential in keeping her injury-free.

Following training with Barre Eclipse, Darby has taught Barre and yoga on both sides of the Atlantic. Her classes are known for providing a warm, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to come as they are and enjoy a fun, spicy, high-energy experience.

Michaela MacMullin

Michaela is an enthusiastic yoga instructor, who is eager to share all the benefits of yoga — both seen and unseen. She brings a light and fun approach to each class; you can expect a low and slow flow with focus on strength and stability. Michaela is known for creating a supportive space where you have the chance to connect with your body, the energy of our community and your own beautiful shining light.

Since first hopping on the mat in 2007, Michaela has always felt “that feeling of coming home” whenever she rolls out her mat. In 2015 the opportunity arose for her to journey to India to participate in a 200 hr teacher training. After returning home and settling in Mahone Bay, she started practicing with Lisa Avramenko and decided to take on her 200 hr teacher training as well.

“One of the biggest gifts yoga has given me is the confidence to put myself out there and believe I can guide a class … That trust integrates into the rest of my life, and now I know I can do lots of things that I couldn’t in the past.”

Outside of the studio you can find her buzzing around with daughter Alice, helping her husband do “natures’ cross fit” (what he calls yard work) and working off mat on the beautiful practice of yoga.

Brittany Hachey

Hi! My name is Britt, and I’m a facilitator at Lincoln Street Studio. My love for yoga began 12 years ago after an abusive relationship and a separation from the father of my kids. Lying on my mat at ModoYoga in Bedford, drenched in sweat, I felt fully connected to my True Essence for the first time. As someone who spent years battling high-functioning depression and anxiety, this was a profound moment, a starting point for reconnecting with the purity of who I was before society shaped me.

Since my first training with Sherry Zak at Halifax Yoga in the Baptiste style of vinyasa yoga, I’ve continued to expand my knowledge. Over the past decade, I’ve studied restorative yoga, yin yoga, pre- and post-natal yoga, the myofascial system, meditation, breathwork, chanting, and somatics. I also incorporate sound and aromatherapy into my teaching. Recently, I’ve been training with John Wineland and Kendra Cunov in the Art of Embodiment, Intimacy, and Sexual Polarity.

My classes are tailored to the moment and designed to help you connect with your truth and open your heart. From high-energy dance to soothing mantra, they create space for self-discovery and growth. While some days may feel more challenging as we explore our edges, you’ll always be held with care, structure, and love. I cannot wait to share the room with you!

Pilates became the catalyst that united her passion for efficient, functional movement with her desire to support others in their healing journey. Victoria now teaches Pilates full-time, offering both group classes and private sessions at various locations in Halifax. Anna Vonmaltzahn

A woman with long wavy hair wearing a white sleeveless top and a gold pendant necklace, standing with her hands on her hips in front of a dark background.

Anna’s approach to facilitating movement is rooted in her background as an athlete paired with her long-time love of yoga as both student and teacher. She’s all for a sweaty physical challenge, but is also an advocate for movement that invites us to slow down and to tune into our bodies at a deeper level. Throughout her sequences she encourages us to work with both effort and ease, emphasizing the practices of being receptive to our body’s ever-changing needs and relating to ourselves compassionately.

While the classes that Anna teaches are created with intentionality to serve specific physical benefits, she is passionate first and foremost about creating a space where students feel safe and empowered as their own best authority within the āsanas. Anna is a counselling therapist by day which intersects beautifully with her aim as a yoga teacher to inspire a mindset that allows students to cultivate a healthful relationship with exercise. Her classes remind us that movement can be incorporated joyfully and sustainably into our days.

Michelle Silver

Person doing yoga in reverse warrior pose indoors

I truly believe that yoga is an integral part of healthy aging and wellness. My classes are gentle yoga and a beautiful blend of breath, movement and stillness, inclusive options, a less is more approach.  Curious, yet hesitant about yoga, due to the popular media images of slim young, extremely fit women and being more of a creative, academic not athletically inclined soul, I came to yoga later than some. I was really drawn by the sense that yoga was more than the physical, seeking more balance and calm in my life. I found my courage to take that first step and joined my first yoga class and began to explore a personal practice in 2004. Ten years later, I chose to share my yoga experience with others and I became a Certified Yoga Instructor from Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training, Jody Myers school (AYTT - Kripalu Inspired Yoga) and Certified Yoga for Healthy Aging Teacher with Baxter Bell and Melina Meza.  In 2021, I studied and completed as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (by Kathryn Templeton, Yoga International).

My goal is to make yoga welcoming and approachable. To invite people to explore yoga while they learn to maintain and improve strength, balance, flexibility, agility, and cultivate equanimity with a balanced practice of movement and breath work. As an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, I bring a seasonal approach to yoga practice. My classes are for anyone wanting a gentle, mindful yoga class.  You are encouraged to move at your own pace and to listen to your needs. My classes include guided verbal cues and choices for taking care of oneself.
